Disability not a Setback, Meet Amazing and Famous Disabled Personalities

Life in general is quite difficult as most people think, but i did say wait till you see and stay around a physically challenged person, then you did be more grateful to God and greatly inspired. Every singular person has one or two difficulties which they pass through at some point in their life, but it definitely can never be compared to the difficulties of a physically challenged person. One who has to live all their life in pain, unhappiness, rejection, and even separation. The thought of being different from a normal human alone can be discouraging, but amazingly few of these physically challenged persons have taken some bold steps that have made them outstanding and unique, which most the healthy and fit ones have not done. These people didn’t only survive they also achieved great success. This action totally depicts great strength, and that you can be anything you want to be, your only setback and hindrance is your own very self. They have been able to create names like inventors, CEO’s, Artists, Speakers, Counselor, and even President.

Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking is one of the well-known physicists in the world, at age 21 he was being diagnosed with ALS and was given just 2 more years to live but luckily for him he lived until he was 76 years old, but then it didn’t stop him from achieving his goals and dreams of becoming a great physicists, astrophysicist, cosmologist and scientist. He has also worked so hard that he had gained being on a show on the popular d and he was able to achieve that in discovery channel. Stephen when alive was only able to speak with the assistance of a computer { A voice synthesizer} which he use as a means of communication, and he had always used a wheelchair since the 1980s because he had been paralyzed from head to toe for over thirty years. His disability however did not stand as a limitation for his dreams. One of his great works was able to stay on the Sunday Times bestsellers list for as long as 237 weeks. His inspiring life story was also at some point in time in the cinema with the movie “Theory of Everything”

Nick Vujicic

The founder of Life Without Limbs Nick Vujicic, is another great and famous personality. Nick was born in the year 1982 without any limbs, as a child like he said was very horrible for him as he went trial times whereby he suffered rejection, discrimination, ridicule and shame to the point he wanted so bad to take his own life. But then with time, he began to see reasons why he should live. Nick who groomed and believed in himself became a motivational speaker, and right now is currently one of the most acknowledge speakers in the world. Nick has also made some history in writing several books. He came into lime light after he starred in a movie, a very short but also very emotional movie known as “The Butterfly Circus”. Later on he birthed an organization with name Life Without Limbs for the people with physical disabilities. Nick’s popularity has greatly increased as he is now a regular speaker in many big TV programs and shows where he has been using his talent and gift to affect lives positively.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt ( FDR)

Franklin Delano Roosevelt also known as FDR, who was conferred to a wheel chair for the days of his life. FDR was a political person and started his political career in gusto, who later became the president of the United States of America. He got infected with polio after drinking water at a campground and he instantly became paralyzed from the waist down, though it was not made public in other to protect the believe the people had in him. He was a great president, who helped guide the nation during the period of the World War II even though he had a challenge. His great works and competence showed that there is no excuse for not being a great leader.

Ralph Braun

The late Braun Ralph was born with muscular dystrophy, At birth he was named “a champion of change” by President Barack Obama. He first started his career in the year 1966 when he created the first wheelchair with hand controls and in 1991 Ralph’s company, BraunAbility, created the first accessible minivan. Braun is the founder of the Braun Corporation, an organization which was among the top leading manufacturers of wheelchair accessible. His aim and goal was to help bring easy mobility to the disabled.

John Hockenberry

John Hockenberry was an american journalist and author, He is one of the most recognized journalists who has a serious health challenge. Even with his spinal cord injury he worked for Dateline in the late 1990’s, becoming one of the first visible journalists to use a wheelchair on an American network. He is also a radio host of The Takeaway, a live national news program on Public Radio since 2008. John also has few books like Moving Violations: War Zones, Wheelchairs and Declarations of Independence, to his name. John was very effective and productive in his career field that he won the Emmy Award four times.

Marlee Matlin

Marlee Matlin has been a great actor even though she has a hearing problem, Marlee has been deaf since she was 18 months old due to a genetically malformed cochlea. She has been a character on many TV shows including The L Word and Law & Order: SVU, and has appeared on reality shows such as The Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars. Marlee has also won so many awards such as Academy Award winning actress for her leading role in Children of a Lesser God (1986), and Golden Globe Award for her role in Children of a Lesser.

Stevie Wonder

Stevie is a songwriter,singer and musician, one of the good singer in the world. Stevie was born blind because the blood vessels at the back of his eyes did not get to the front yet and it therefore affected its growth and he was born premature (6 weeks early) Stevie signed his first record label at age 1Qtwe1, Motown’s Tamla label,and he’s been performing since. Stevie has recorded over 30 of U.S. top ten hits, including his singles “Superstition,” “Sir Duke” and “I Just Called to Say I Love You.”

Helen Keller

This physically challenged person Helen Keller is an American author, political activist and also a lecturer. Helen Keller was the first deaf and blind person to earn a college degree. Her story was famously portrayed in the play and film, The Miracle Worker, which documented how her teacher Anne Sullivan was finally able to develop a language that Helen could understand.
Helen wrote a total of 12 published books, including her spiritual autobiography, My Religion, and was also a member of the Socialist Party in America, and campaigned heavily for women’s rights and other labor rights.

Sudha Chandran

The gorgeous and beautiful sudha, yes her name might not be as well known in the United States, Sudha Chandran is one of the most well-known dancers and TV actresses in India despite losing one of her legs to infection in 1981 after a car accident. She’s what is known as a Bharatanatyam dancer, and was able to teach herself how to dance using a prosthetic “Japir foot,” enabling her to become one of the most highly acclaimed dancers in the world. A Bollywood film, Mayuri, was also made about her life.

Aaron Fotheringham

Aaron who is a great inspiration and admiration to many even the non disabled due to his talented and unique skills in skating. He is known to be one of the famous and amazing skaters in the world. Aaron specializes on wheelchair skating. Aaron has undergone so many failed hip operation during his childhood but then it never made him relent as he brushed and trained himself about his passionate dream of becoming a wheelchair skater. He was able to make some recognizable achievements such as landing a great jump with a 180º turn in 2005, and in 2006 he made the first somersault in wheelchair history.
